With a history spanning over a century, Harley-Davidson has earned its stripes as one of the world's leading motorcycle manufacturers. 

Now, the firm hopes to reinvent the market with its first all-electric motorcycle, the LiveWire. 

Set to launch in September, the battery-powered Harley-Davidson will be able to go from 0 to 60mph in just 3 seconds, according to the firm.

Riders also won’t need to use the clutch or gear shift in order to speed up which offers a fresh experience that Harley-Davidson describes as both “accessible to new riders and thrilling for accomplished motorcyclists.”

Harley-Davidson said the LiveWire will be the first in a broad portfolio of electric two-wheelers. 

The launch comes as the legendary motorcycle maker tries to establish itself as a leader in electric motorcycles. 

It also plays into the firm’s ‘More Roads to Harley-Davidson’ growth strategy, whereby it hopes to encourage the next generation of riders through new products in additional motorcycle segments, broader access, and a commitment to strengthen dealers globally.  

With a price tag of nearly $30,000 the electric motorcycle will be available in a number of dealerships across the US, Canada, and some countries in Europe.
