Leading communications and electronics company Nokia has signed a new partnership with the IoT arm of Swedish telecommunications provider Tele2 to accelerate the deliverance of IoT services using Nokia’s worldwide IoT network grid (WING).

These services will be offered within a number of industries including transport, healthcare, smart city and utilities, enabling the ease of management of connected assets, such as connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), globally.

“Nokia WING will enable Tele2 IoT to offer its enterprise customers a global service with flexible control, low latency and high levels of efficiency and enterprise automation,” said Ankur Bhan, Head of WING, Nokia.

“Together we will work on enabling new IoT solutions that can be adopted in various industries to deliver seamless, reliable and efficient processes to help businesses run more intelligently.”

The partnership will also see the two firms working together to enhance their 5G and LTE capabilities, specifically for IoT networks, in the aim of accelerating innovation within these areas.

“Nokia WING is a unique concept for worldwide IoT enablement which will allow us to serve our enterprise customers better and differentiate our offering on a global scale,” said Rami Avidan, CEO of Tele2 IoT.

“We are excited about the prospect of helping our customers to easily deploy IoT services, driving new revenue growth opportunities.”

Nokia WING has previously been named as the winner in IoT leadership at the TechXLR8 Awards last year, most recently having been nominated for a Global Mobile Award at the 2018 Mobile World Congress.
