Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, has the top market share in the Asia-Pacific for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Infrastructure Utility Services (IUS) for the second year in a row, according to Gartner.

The report highlighted that Alibaba is a leader in the Asia-Pacific market for IaaS and IUS with a market share of 19.6%.

The company was quickly followed by AWS (with a market share of 11%) and Microsoft (with a market share of 8%) respectively.

Additionally, the Market Share Report also highlighted how Alibaba Cloud has retained its top three global provider position in the same space.

“As the only global cloud provider originated from Asia, we will continue to champion millions of businesses through our world-class infrastructure, advanced analytics tools and thriving ecosystem.”

Alibaba Cloud has a robust ecosystem in Asia-Pacific with 15 availability zones in the region outside of China, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Japan.

It is also the only global cloud provider that has set up local data centres in Indonesia and Malaysia, according to the firm.
